Maiden Seniors Shine in Last District Home Game
Tuesday was Senior Recognition Day as the Maidens played their last regular season game on the home turf against the Anson Lady Tigers. Six Seniors will graduate including Pitcher/Shortstop, Laura Fuentes, Catcher Kelsey Guzman, Leftfielder Krysta Winegeart, Centerfielder Gabby Mendoza, Second Base Maddey Williams and Exchange Student Franzi Lutz from Germany. The Maidens were victorious, winning 13-5 in 6 ½ innings. Collectively, the Maidens had 10 hits while Anson had 7. Winegeart caught two fly balls in her final home game. Mendoza went 2/4 with two doubles. Guzman was 1/3 and continues to be a âbrick wallâ behind the plate. Williams was in on 5 defensive plays at 2B, caught two nasty fly balls, a line drive, dove to stop a hard hit grounder and made the last out of the game. Fuentes started the game in the circle facing each batter twice with 4 strikeouts, 1 walk and only 4 hits. Underclassmen, Lolo Alexander and Jordan Garvin both hit 2/3. The Maidens have one district game left to play at Hawley on Friday with whom they are tied for first, each with one loss.
