Maidens take down Lady Bulldogs.
The (2A) Haskell Maidens outscored the (3A) Brady Lady Bulldogs 33-4 the first half and went on to get the 65-17 victory on Thursday afternoon in their first game at the 2018 Eula Holiday Classic Tournament. Haskell moves to 16-1 on the season.
Haskell had a well balanced scoring attack. Freshman Delaney Hanson led the way with a game high 18 points followed by Landry Hanson with 16, CEra Taylor 12, Taylor Manske 7, Ryanna Rodriguez 6, Emma Roewe 5, and Calie Everett 1. The Maidens passed the ball well and played well together which led to a lot of assists. Melody had a team high 5 assists followed by Delaney with 3, Taylor 3, Calie 1, CEra 1, Landry 1 and Ryanna 1.
The Maidens man to man defense made it tough on the Lady Bulldogs holding them to just 17 points for the game. Leading team in steals was Landry with 3, Calie 2, Delaney 2, Emma 2 and Taylor 2.
Haskell won the rebound battle over Brady by a large margin. Taylor had a team high 7 rebounds followed by CEra with 6, Delaney 5, Emma 5, and Landry 4.
Overall, I thought we played really well on both ends of the floor. It was a good game for us to knock off the rust coming off a 5 day Christmas Break with no games or practices. I was really proud of the girls for how they prepared and played against Brady, head coach Blake Eddleman said.
