Maidens too much for JV Lady Raiders.
Haskell outscored Rider JV 34-2 in the first half and continued to dominate the second half to get the 70-11 win in game one of pool play at the 38th Fantasy of Lights Basketball Tournament in Wichita Falls on Friday, November 23rd. Haskell improves to 4-0 on the season.
The Maidens were led offensively by Freshman Melody Martinez who finished with 15 points followed by Landry Hanson with 13, Calie Everett 9, CEra Taylor 9, Emma Roewe 8, Delaney Hanson 7, Ryanna Rodriguez 7, and Taylor Manske 4. Haskell did a great job sharing the ball finishing with 22 total assists. Leading the team in assists was Landry with 8, Taylor 5, Delaney 3, Calie 2, and Ryanna 2. The Maidens were (24-38) 63% from 2FG, (6-17) 35% from 3FG, (30-55) 54% FG, and (4-10) 40% from FT.
Haskell forced Rider JV to shoot 19% from the field. CEra and Ryanna had a team high 5 steals each followed by Landry with 3. The Maidens won the battle of the boards 27-14. Leading the team in rebounds was CEra with 8, Delaney 4, Landry 4, and Ryanna 3.
